Hello everyone,
I am planning to potentially travel to Germany and/or Russia sometime soon, and since I have never traveled outside the US, I have a couple questions:
1. What will I need to obtain in order to travel internationally? Passports? Visas, etc?
2. How much do passports and visas cost, and how long do they take to obtain? Will I need one for each country I go to?
Any other tips will be helpful. Thanks!

How much can you make as a travel agent?
Filed Under Travel Talk | 1 Comment
Thinking of taking an online course through Penn Foster for the travel industry to become a travel agent. Thinking of stopping by a local travel agency to ask them questions. But thought I would ask here first. Any travel agents out there? How much do you make?

I’m thinking of being a travel agent or a cruise consultant. I would rather get an on the job training instead of paying for school. Should I just call up each travel agency in my city?

What jobs out there allow a person to travel and write about their travel experiences?
Filed Under Travel Talk | 3 Comments
I love the travel industry. There’s certain feelings I get when traveling to a new place and I want others to feel the same way I do about visiting some place new or experiencing something totally different than what I am use to. I currently work in the travel business advertising vacation property and after seeing how beautiful the land is where some of the properties reside, I get this strong feeling of envy for the owners who get to enjoy the beauty of a vacation destination and of the land their homes rest on.
How on earth can I find a job, aside from being a travel agent, or tour director, or cruise ship director, where I can travel to places I love and write about them for everyone else to experience?
Im looking along the lines of maybe a travel magazine who will pay people to travel or even a website?

What are your suggestions for an ideal travel agency or travel assistant experience?

Today’s travel has become very hectic, and there are a lot of complaints about service. What are the things that a travel assistant service would do in an ideal world? What kinds of services would they provide and how could they make the experience of planning travel as easy and enjoyable as possible?

How do I calculate the distance a car can travel based on a fixed fuel consumption rate and more?
Filed Under Travel Talk | 1 Comment
How do I calculate the distance a car can travel based on a fixed fuel consumption rate (in kilometres per litre), the amount of fuel in the tank and the distance already travelled?
Assume that the tank is empty and we add some fuel at the start.
For example, a car has a fixed fuel consumption rate of 6 k/l and I add 3 litres of fuel and I’ve already travelled I don’t know, lets say, 5km.
How do I calculate the quantity of fuel left in the car then after adding the fuel and then travelling over x amount of distance.

Deduct travel expenses from tripif photographing scenics submitting them to stock photo businesses?
Filed Under Travel Talk | 1 Comment
I’m a retired pro photographer and want to travel (with my husband as assistant) and take photos to submit to stock photography companies. Scenics, local cultures, wildlife, etc.
How much of my travel expenses can I legally deduct from my USA income tax? Opinions? Experiences?

I’m considering traveling around S. America for around 6 months to a year and wondered how much it would roughly cost. I would be back packing and am not expecting to sleep anywhere fancy or travel in luxery but I would like to hit some major cities for nights out as well as traveling to more remote places. Also if anyone knows the anyway to pick up casual work there to earn whilst I’m traveling that would be much appreciated. I don’t speak much Spanish at the moment but fully intend on learning.

I can travel standby anywhere for free. How can I make money with this ability?
Filed Under Travel Talk | 4 Comments
I do know someone who has the same ability who travels back and forth to Japan to teach English. I also have thought of import/export, though I don’t know much about it. Being an antiques scout/buyer was suggested to me. I doubt I could compete in the photoessay/travel writer category. Do you have any ideas? Thanks.
No, I’m not an airline employee, and no, I’m not suggesting trying to transfer my pass. Please read my description before replying.
